Our books can be quite full, sometimes you might need to wait a month or two until your class. We run classes 4 days a week (Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays) so if you can’t see a particular day of the week, just scroll forward a few months and some will pop up. We are so sorry for the wait!
📍located in Warnervale NSW on the central coast only 500m off the M1.
COMBINED WAX CARVING & SAND CASTING
You will carve a ring or pendant from jewellers wax for the first few hours, the teacher will help you create your piece.
After lunch the pieces are cast for you and then you’ll be cleaning up your silver piece by sanding, buffing, blackening, and polishing.
Sterling silver is used unless you choose another option such as gold or rose gold.
There are many Do’s & Don'ts when it comes to sand casting. We have examples you can choose from and there is some movement for your own designs.
we have listed some examples above of some pieces that work with sand casting, please try not to come in with lots of ideas from Pinterest and other platforms. We find that so many of these images students come in with are actually made using a completely different casting method. Sand casting is great, if you allow it to do what it is capable of. As fun as experimenting is we don’t want you to waste your class trying something that won’t work and then not having a final piece at the end.
if you are wanting to gain experience , pouring the metal and packing the flask you have to book another class that is one on one and would run over 1-2 days.
this class goes for approximately 5 hours
-you will have up to 20 grams of silver for your project (excluding the sprue) should you require more sterling silver you can purchase some on the day-
you Can cast a stone in place of you would like, you can choose 1 stone from our collection (or two small 1mm-2mm stones). The limit on amounts of stones are because it makes the clean up longer and a bit harder the more stones that are added.
safety Requirements while in the studio-
